On Saturday 20th January four children from Winnie the Pooh class in Year 3 were part of the Guards of Honour for the Bedford Blues Rugby match against Nottingham. These children took part in a tag rugby competition in October where they won an award for Fair Play. The reward for this was to become Guards of Honour. On the day, they had a tag rugby session beforehand where they learnt new skills and drills and then took part in a little match against another school. After this, they were given T-shirts to wear and a Bedford Blues flag. Then it was time for the match to start! The children were lined up on the side of the pitch and were instructed to wave their flags and cheer loudly as the Bedford Blues Rugby players ran between them and started playing. They had to give the T-shirts back but were allowed to keep their flags. They then got to watch the match from the side and Bedford Blues won the match! It was an amazing atmosphere and such an exciting opportunity for the children to take part in. All four children thoroughly enjoyed the day and did the school proud. This is what they had to say about the day:
Marlie - I really enjoyed watching the rugby and waving our flags on the pitch as the rugby players came on.
Eric - I liked that we got to play tag-rugby before the match and then we got to watch the players play a real game.
Nina - I really enjoyed watching the match.
Shaquille - I felt happy because I got to watch the rugby and Bedford won!
On Friday 2nd February, Pacesetter's Dance club took part in a performance in Northampton in front of head teachers of lots of different schools. They have been preparing for this event in the morning club before school. They were all really nervous before they performed but all performed really well and showed lots of talent. They received a standing ovation and were congratulated by all of Pacesetter's staff. After their performance they were given a goody bag, certificate and medal! Well done to all that took part!
On Friday 23rd February, children from the Pacesetters Dodgeball club took part in a competition against 4 other schools in Milton Keynes. There were children from Years 5 and 6 whowere put into two teams. Children had to compete against the other schools and even had to compete against each other! The scores were really close and they were competition for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. One of the teams came 4th. They performed really well and even beat the other King's Oak team in their match! The other King's Oak team qualified for the finals! They had to play against another team who were really good! The final game was extremely tense! Everyone was watching and it was silent apart from the players and the occasional clap and cheer from the crowd. It was very close. In the end the King's Oak team won the match and came 1st!
All children were given a certificate and the winning team received a medal each and were given a trophy to keep in school! All children who took part in this competition played extremely well and were all excellent team players. They all said they were proud of each other and I know the school is proud of them. Well done everyone!
